About Jackie

I have been a lawyer since 1996.  Having relocated to Geraldton for an intended stay of 12 months, I am still here after almost 26 years!  I initially worked for a small general practice firm for 2 and a half years before setting up my own practice in partnership in April 1998.  In May 2003, I established Ruby & Associates.

I have assisted clients from all walks of life in respect of a range of issues including Criminal and Traffic matters, Personal Injuries actions, Restraining Orders, Property matters, Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Guardianship, Advance Health Directives, Deceased Estates and Estate Disputes.

In recent  years, I have found that I have a particular interest in assisting clients in administering deceased Estates and in relation to contested Wills proceedings.

I understand that I am often dealing with clients during extremely stressful and turbulent periods in their lives and I am empathetic to their position and objectives.

I also strongly believe in being upfront with clients in relation to their legal issue and their prospects of achieving their desired outcome at the inception of the matter.  It is vital to manage clients’ expectations and to provide ongoing and revised estimates of their costs so that they can resolve their issue cost-effectively if possible.  I am very mindful of the significant damage and possible destruction of family relationships caused by legal disagreements and particularly those in relation to deceased Estates.

On 1 July 2015, I was appointed a District Public Notary for the Midwest Region by the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and would dearly love to do more travelling when time and circumstances allow.  Although I thoroughly enjoy a good book, I rarely start one or else my house and my family’s meals go on the backburner until I am finished.
